I'm a 67-year-old Canadian businessman who's lived most of my life in Denmark. Most of my picture-taking is point-and-shoot photos of family and vacation trips and documenting activities. But once in a while I try to get a bit artistic. I'd appreciate criticism and suggestions.

Deer in park north of Copenhagen : The mating season was almost over, but the stags were still fighting each other occasionally. These deer live in "Dyrehaven", a wildlife park just north of Copenhagen. There are 2000 deer here. This park that was established 300 years ago by the Danish king as a hunting forest. These pictures were taken with the Zuiko 18-180 lens.

South Jutland : These seven pictures were taken in South Jutland (Sønderjylland) last weekend. This part of Denmark is sparsely populated, very flat, and some of it is at or below sea level and protected from the North Sea by dykes.

NATO AWACS E-3A over Jutland : A NATO AWACS E-3A airplane flew around us repeatedly while we were trying to relax conoeing on a stream in Jutland, Denmark. It was apparently doing training flights, while temporarily based at the nearby Karup airport, used by the Danish Air Force. Airplanes at CPH : These pictures were taken from near the end of the runway at Copenhagen airport. Partly because I like taking pictures of airplanes, and partly to test my new Zuiko 18-180 lens. The pictures have been cropped and brightness and contrast has been adjusted. No other post processing has been done.

Karamea - Oparara Arch : "In the Oparara valley the Oparara River flows through three arches. Helsingborg : A few pictures from Helsingborg, Sweden. The first four pictures are of a rather special structure, the Ringstorp water reservoir. http://www.helsingborg.se/templates/StandardPage.aspx?id=1374 "The magnificent Ringstorp reservoir was inaugurated in 1905 and was in use till 1962, when it was succeeded by the Fredriksdal tower. Ringstorp's grand facade, with it's pinnacles and towers, is just an adornment with no practical purpose. The cast concrete water tank with it's up to two metres thick walls is built behind the brick walls. Ringstorp was designed by the architect Stenhammar, who also designed the Grand Hotel at Stortorget (the Main Square). At it's completion in 1905, the reservoir had cost 160 000 swedish kronor to build. The cost for the grand stairs at the front amounted to 2 210 kronor."

Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens test pictures : A few test shots with my new Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens. My hopes were that this lens would allow indoor photography without use of a flash. But here in Scandinavia in late October the light is pretty poor, so even with f/1.4 and ISO 400 the exposure times are typically 1/15 or 1/20 second, too slow for reliable hand-held use.

Zuiko 18-180 lens test pictures : A very informal and very non-professional test of my new Zuiko 18-180 lens. Some pictures taken with my Zuiko 14-54 lens are included for comparison purposes. All shots taken with automatic settings. The camera was on a tripod and the camera was in anti-shake mode (1 sec. delay), but the tripod is a cheap and flimsy one and the wind was blowing so I can't guarantee that there was no camera shake.

Eremitage hunting chateau : Eremitageslottet (The Eremitage Chateau) belongs to the Danish Royal Family. It was built in 1734-1736 in Jægersborg Dyrehave, which at that time was the king's private hunting area. Dyrehaven is now a public wildlife park with 2000 deer and elk wandering around freely. I have not been able to find any good information about Eremitageslottet in English on the Internet. Here are two good Danish pages, the first with some nice pictures: http://www.kongper.dk/dyrhav.htm http://da.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eremitageslottet Note that I've chosen to translate Eremitageslottet to "The Eremitage Chateau", even though it is literally "The Eremitage Castle". The word "slot" can also be "mansion", and I have seen Eremitageslottet described as the "Eremitage hunting lodge".
